Use this window, in the scope of a cube and a company group, to define Financial KPI Elements to be used when defining the calculation details of a Financial KPI Definition. The element definition is based on accounting structures. It is necessary to define the Structure Type that applies for each element. The normal case is to use either a Balance Sheet or an Income Statement structure when defining an element. An element can be said to represent a cube measure sliced with respect to a specific node in a cube dimension hierarchy.
This means that an element can be defined as:
Dimension Name and Hierarchy Name are cube specific and must be known. It is not possible to select any dimension and any hierarchy; the selected/supplied values must refer to a dimension and dimension hierarchy that is supported by the OLAP cube model and also be the Data Warehouse (BI Analysis Package). It is however possible to get List of Values support so that the target OLAP cube can be browsed. Still it is necessary to select the correct dimension and the correct hierarchy within that dimension. This support can be enabled by downloading SQL Server AMO and ADOMD in Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Feature Pack to the client machine and install it.
