Define KPI Company Group Information

Explanation

This activity is used to define company groups consisting of companies that use the same follow-up structure, i.e. the same Income Statement (IS) and Balance Sheet (BS) structure. This means that the nodes and the names in the IS and BS need to be the same. There can however be different charts of account in different companies.

In the simplest case all companies have the same structure and thus only one company group is needed. In the most extreme case all companies have different structures and it is necessary to have separate company groups for each individual company.

For each Company Group a Structure Definition Company has to be defined, i.e. a financial company within the group that serves as the lookup company when browsing structures and structure details.

It is also possible to define a Company Group Suffix that will be used when defining the Measure Name in the target OLAP cube representing a specific Financial KPI. The typical case is when more than one Company Group is using the same identity for a Financial KPI, e.g. NETRES. If a Company Group has the Company Group Suffix defined as G1, the Measure Name will be suggested as NETRES_G1. Measures must be unique within a cube but the KPI can have the same identity in different company groups.

For a Company Group the following information should be supplied:

Procedure

To perform this activity,

  1. Open the KPI Company Group window
  2. Enter a Company Group ID and a Description for the group.
  3. Specify the Structure Definition Company.
  4. Define a Company Group Suffix that is needed. If only one Company Group is used, it is not necessary to define the suffix but else it is recommended since the suffix will be used to suggest the Measure Name in the OLAP cube when defining the Financial KPIs.
  5. In the Companies tab, enter the companies that should be included in the Company Group. The Structure Definition Company will be automatically added.
  6. In the Structures tab, enter the structure identities that represent the Balance Sheet (BS) and the Income Statement (IS) in all connected companies. The code part associated with the Structure ID must match the Structure Type. There can be only one accounting structure representing the BS, only one representing the IS and only one structure representing code part B to J.
Note: Support for code part B to J structures might not be available.
