Define Configuration Settings
Explanation
This activity is used to configure access information to SQL Server where the BI Analysis Package has been installed.
The configuration includes the following mandatory settings:
- Name of Microsoft SQL Server that contains the BI Analysis Services (SQL) database.
- Name of the BI Analysis Services database.
- Name of the Microsoft SQL server where Analysis Services (SSAS) installed and that contains the OLAP cube or cubes to be accessed.
In a standard case the BI Analysis Package is installed on a single Microsoft SQL Server and will contain
both the SQL database and the Analysis Services OLAP cubes. Financial KPI definitions in IEE are transferred to the SQL database and
are used to build valid OLAP cube measure definitions that can update a given cube in a given cube database on the SSAS server. The cube database will normally be one
defined when installing the BI Analysis Package but it is possible to access another existing (and relevant) OLAP cube in another cube database on the supplied SSAS server.
Prerequisites
- BI Analysis Package must have been installed first before handling the configuration settings. The settings are else meaningless.
- Make sure to setup necessary security on the MS SQL Server target servers to enable access for the IFS user to the database as well as the OLAP cubes. Only Windows Integrated Authentication is supported.
System Effects
As a result of this activity:
- Information can be retrieved from the database server as well as from the Analysis Services server.
- Agent Jobs on the database server can be started and processing and update of OLAP cubes will be possible.
